HOLDING UP THE SKY - 2025 oils/canvas 72 x 60" The dragon blood trees have morphed into beings, their branches became hands. I painted this piece rotating it between sessions. So essentially it could be a ceiling piece or a wall piece that can be rotated for different views.

Dragon Blood Tree #2 2024 oils/canvas 48 x 60"Expanding the sky imagery, this piece was a departure in mediums as well. I used dry pastels to gently capture the feeling of the tree. When the pastels didnt adhere to the oil painted layer beneath, I took some cadmium yellow oil paint to detail the trees edges and a wash of oil medium over the pastels. I looked away from the canvas for a while, watching the strong rain surrounding my windowed studio. When I returned to the canvas, the whole painting was running down the surface, essentially painting itself.

An environmental statement, as well as a celebration of the joy of watching clouds forming a "skyscape." The clouds transformed into figures, forming a procession in the sky of biomorphic figures connecting back to my figurative work.

An environmental statement, as well as a celebration of the joy of watching clouds forming a "skyscape." This was taken from photos I took recording these wonderful clouds. They have a hind of the figurative work that follows.

Extreme Weather # 2 -Thunderstorm 2019 oils/canvas 60x72" The Fire Paintings of 2017-18 led into this new series, Extreme Weather. My interpretations from National Geographic photographs, depicting, volcanoes, hurricanes, thunderstorms, tornadoes, mass flooding, etc.For me, extreme weather seems like Mother Nature’s powerful response to the imbalance civilization has wrought.
